Your health insurance plan may cover all or part of the cost of services, see the "insurance" section on this page. Session fees range from $80 to $160 depending on the service provided. A complete fee schedule will be provided to you. Discounts are available for clients making cash/check payments and not billing insurance. Counseling sessions are usually 45 or 55 minutes in length. Please be prepared to pay at the time of your appointment. Cash, check (made to Ronda McLean, LCSW), Health Savings Account, credit cards and debit cards are accepted.
Services may be covered in part by your health insurance plan. Check with your insurance plan to see if video counseling is a covered service. I am a preferred provider with some health plans, which typically means you will only pay your co-payment and deductible (if any) at our session, instead of the full fee. I will take care of the billing for you. If I am not a provider for your health insurance, I will give you invoices you can submit to your plan as an "out of network" provider. With certain plans such as PPO and POS plans, even if I am not on their network, you may be able to receive insurance reimbursement for a portion of the cost of the services, often 60-80%, depending on your health plan. Before we start working together, it is a good idea to call you insurance plan to find out the details and limitations of your coverage. Important questions to ask include:
- Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
- Is the therapist I want to see on your preferred provider list?
- If not, what is my coverage for out-of-network providers?
- What is my deductible and has it been met for the year?
- How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover with this therapist?
- How much will I be responsible to pay at each therapy session?
- Is pre-authorization required before I make an appointment?
I put aside your scheduled appointment time for you; therefore, if you do not show up for an appointment or cancel without 24 hours notice, you will be responsible to pay $70 for the missed appointment. Insurance plans will not pay the cost of a missed session. Please let me know as soon as you know you won't be able to make the appointment, so that I can give your time to someone else who may need it. If I forget a scheduled appointment, I owe you a free session.
